I See Through You

Written by Sophie Boyce & Fred Feeney Performed by Dariana Mullen I SEE THROUGH YOU (LYRICS) Dear Daniella I wrote you a letter that I don’t intend for you to see. And if you saw it you’d prob’ly just ignore it since you never even notice me. And I get it. I’m so forgettable, it’s pathetic. Don’t you sweat it; not all of us can be so magnetic. That’s your talent. And it’s quite apparent that you’re in a very different league. Incredible. Everyone think you’re impeccable. They say your style’s unforgettable and your charm’s almost unbearable But they don’t see how… Your eyes glaze over when they all look away. Your smile flickers out of view. You do all you can to make it seem like you’re okay. And you look through me. While I see through you. Monday morning I saw you performing for the guys on the soccer team. You were flirting. But your cheeks were burning hoping somebody would intervene. And you acted like you were actually attracted. But when a pretty girl walked by I saw you get distracted. Why’d you do it? Why put yourself through it? Like you need it for your self esteem. It’s pleasureless. Yet they still think you are measureless. They’re all in awe of your cleverness. How you make it look so effortless. Yet they don’t see when… Your eyes glaze over when they all look away. Your smile flickers out of view. You play this part just to make it through the day. And you look through me. While I see through – A girl who’s afraid that if she shows a sign of weakness, she’ll end up rejected and alone. And so she conforms, instead of showing her uniqueness. She pretends she’s strong. And she pretends she’s tough. What makes her think the real her’s not enough? I see you are vulnerable. You don’t think that you are loveable. You make yourself seem untouchable. Cos real connection’s uncomfortable. Mmmmmmmmmmm. I see through you.
